I've been at CSU since Fall 1988 in the College of Business in lovely Ft. Collins, CO - a town of 120,000.  I moved here in 1978 the first time when the population was 50,000 so I've seen some changes. We are 50 miles north of Denver and 45 miles from that "other" university in the state - CU in Boulder. 

Biographical Information

I grew up in Western Maryland in Cumberland and then went to Virginia Tech (B.S. 1976) for a degree in statistics.  (Trivia Question - What's the Virginia Tech mascot???)

After working for Westinghouse in South Boston, VA, I moved west to Colorado for some good weather and an MBA from Colorado State University in 1980.  I worked for HP here and then left to go to hot and dry Tucson for a Ph.D. at the University of Arizona (1987) in Management Information Systems. That's where I became a HUGE Wildcat basketball fan!  After spending 1.5 years at Oregon State I came back to Ft. Collins and sunshine to teach here. I've been here ever since except for a sabbatical in Australia from 1994-95 and a Fulbright for 3 months in Portugal at the University of Evora.

 

Awards

• Received Jack E. Cermak award for outstanding advising at Colorado State University

• Received the Gladys Eddy Award for the Enhancement of the Undergraduate Experience

• Received the College of Business Excellence in Teaching Award

• Spent 3 months at the U. of Evora teaching during a Fulbright Award. Stories and pictures from the U of Evora

Personal Interests

• Traveling anywhere and everywhere. I've been to 47 of the 50 states but am still trying to figure out how (or why) to get to North Dakota!  Mark and I spent 9 weeks camping in Europe one year and take every opportunity we can to see new places. We've been to the Tour de France 4 times to watch Lance and the other Americans ride. We've seen some towns in France that are not on any tour route that's ever been put together.

• Raising 2 cats - a 13 year old social cat who greets everyone at the door  and a 3 year old grey cat who is afraid of all sudden noises.

• Reading mysteries.

• Working on my and my husband's families' genealogy. Old cemeteries are amazingly interesting!
